re: Amnite S250 Septic Tank Treatment (BioGest)
"I live in Cyprus and use a septic tank.
My tank was not working at all well and I felt the only way to resolve the problem was to have it emptied and start again.
As a last throw of the dice I searched the internet and came upon your website. It was a very clear site with products described and clearly priced.
Delivery was very quick and the product does exactly what your website says. My septic tank is now working perfectly and I shall continue to use your products to ensure it stays that way.
My only criticism is the high cost of postage and packing, but you can't have everything.
Thanks for your assistance

"Hello and good afternoon,
I purchased your product to solve a problem I had with my septic tank and soak away.
I had visions of my lawn and garden being dug up to reinstate the soak away to its functional state.
Thankfully your product solved the problem within a fortnight and to date all seems to be well and I top up
on a monthly basis with a sachet of Biogest. If only every problem could be solved so speedily and effectively.
Many thanks

re: The Bactaerator™
"With regard to the Pump Station the FOG appears to be under control, there are still some balls on the surface and attached to the wall but the operators consider it to be at an acceptable level. They are the ones who decide on when to clean the wet well and so far they haven't called for a clean since the system was installed in September. As the previous cleaning interval was quoted as every 6 weeks and it is now 16 weeks since cleaning, [The Bactaerator™] would appear to be having significant benefits. "

"Some 5 years ago, I first made contact with Cleveland Biotech Ltd and as a result we successfully installed a GreaseBeta system to overcome problems of grease accumulation in a drain between a busy Public House and a Public Sewer. Since then I have installed GreaseBeta, BioGest and Clearinate systems also successfully.
Not only have I been impressed by Cleveland Biotech's initial approach to such problems but have found their after sales service to be equally impressive"

"Re: CLEVELAND BIOTECH HYDROCARBON DEGRADING PRODUCTS
The Environmental Impact Analysis Group has been carrying out Contaminated Land site investigation, analysis, and consultancy since 1991. In the course of that time, and with the introduction of readily-available biotechnological methods for the remediation of contaminated land, our laboratories have carried out numerous trials for, and on behalf of, our clients, utilising Cleveland Biotech hydrocarbon degrading products - mainly Amnite P100 and Amnite P300. These trials include laboratory-based feasibility studies to ascertain contaminated soil and/or water can be rendered harmless, and also environmental monitoring of site-based remediation applications. The typical "spillage" contamination encountered ranged from light lubricating oils, petrol (leaded and un-leaded), diesels (all ranges), fuel oils, heating oils, medium to heavy lubricating oils, and heavy greases.
I can state that, of the several trials carried out - to date, in excess of 100 - only one contaminated soil proved too difficult for the Amnite biotechnological process. I can also add, without breaking client confidentiality, that the contaminated soil referred to here was grossly contaminated with concentrated sulphuric acid and lead, being derived from a vehicle battery recycling factory. Even so, a site programme of neutralisation and containment rendered the pH suitable to permit the Cleveland Biotech process to be applied with excellent results.
The profile of the soil and/or waters investigated in our laboratories, typically demonstrate contamination with a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons - straight, branched and cyclic - and aromatic hydrocarbons - including volatiles, semi-volatiles, and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). Laboratory and site-derived samples were commonly thoroughly analysed (utilising GC-MS) to determine the staged products of degradation - succinctly, to monitor the conversion of high molecular weight hydrocarbons into simpler environmentally-friendly bio-available carbon sources, predominantly carbon dioxide.
As an independent laboratory, we often are involved in biodegradation trials utilising products from sources other than Cleveland Biotech. As an internal quality process, we always incorporate either Amnite P100 or Amnite P300 as a "control" experiment - to ensure that the laboratory-based conditions are correct.
As a result of extensive research and commercial applications utilising Cleveland Biotech products, I can endorse and recommend the use of such in the remediation of land contaminated with a diversity of hydrocarbon types."

"Thank you for sending the sampler blister containing six Ecoloo sachets.
Having had the chance to assess the product, I am pleased to say that I am very pleased with the results. The obvious ease of use etc., but more importantly, the very evident lack of lingering odours following a pump-out and the use of the toilets. Even when the boat is not in use, the toilets have lost that 'toilet' smell. We carry up to 55 passengers on each trip so your product is getting a very good test!
Would you please send us 1 box of 20 blisters, and I am sure that as the word gets around to private boaters, Canal Societies etc. whom I have contact with, we will be placing further orders with you until such times you have established a distribution network.
Many thanks,"

"“We were experiencing fat blockages on an almost weekly basis, due to a large extent to the aged pipework in the building. Unblocking them was a time consuming and frankly disgusting task and not something I thought I’d have to worry about when running an award-winning restaurant. The GreaseBeta was installed over a year ago and since then the only blockages we have experienced have been when the system has been accidentally turned off. The regular service Cleveland Biotech provide ensures that this is one issue I no longer have to worry about – they live up to their claim that this is indeed a ‘fit and forget’ system” "

"GREASEBETA HELPS MEAT PROCESSING PLANT IMPRESS WATER AUTHORITY
Northumbrian Water is reportedly “over the moon” with Tyne & Wear based meat product manufacturer SMP (GB) Ltd since the company installed a GreaseBeta system from Cleveland Biotech in April 2005, preventing its production processes polluting and blocking the public drains.
“After we received a letter from Dave Allen, Trade Effluent Compliance Manager for Northumbrian Water identifying SMP as the source of white fatty deposits that were fouling the public sewer, I went on the internet to source a solution,” explains SMP’s Factory Manager Tom Lumsden. “As a result we now have a GreaseBeta dosing unit installed in the Cook Room, injecting the discharge line from the main utensil wash sink.
“I get Northumbrian Water to come and check the line periodically and we also send off our own water samples for testing. All the results have been really, really good since installing GreaseBeta.”
SMP (GB) Ltd manufactures a range of meat products. Rounds of meat are cooked on rotating spits in the Cook Room; the meat is sliced off the spit when ready and these slices drop for collection into large stainless steel trays for further processing/packaging. All bulk surplus fats from the cooking units are collected in large plastic drums for reputable off-site disposal.
Once the meat slices have been passed to the next stage of processing the fatty trays are then washed in a stainless steel utensil sink and the hot fatty wash water is discharged into the site drainage network.
“We used to get a build up of fat and grease in the drain channels which resulted in a restricted flow. This in turn led to problems further down the line where the warm greasy water cooled and solidified. We regularly had to get the drains people to come and clear it out – for which there was a substantial charge,” explains Lumsden.
Cleveland Biotech’s ground breaking GreaseBeta is a foolproof grease management system which involves the daily, automated injection of a stable bacterial solution comprising a broad range of fat digesting bacteria. Once activated these bacteria colonise the drainage runs and network, multiplying to produce greater numbers of bacteria. These rapidly growing bacteria release a range of lipase enzymes, which digest the accumulated fats, oils and greases (FOG) in the drains.
Not only do the bacteria benefit the immediate drainage network, but they also have a positive effect on the receiving sewer network. Since they are biological (bacterial) in nature and not chemical degreasers or cleaners, they do not simply transfer the problem further down the drain lines: they eliminate it altogether.
The GreaseBeta liquid fat digester - Amnite L100 Biofluid - is dispensed via a wall mounted unit; automatic daily dosing eliminates human error and ensures the optimum level of lipase producing bacteria are maintained in the drain line.
“With all the publicity surrounding global warming and increasing pollution we were especially pleased to find an environmentally friendly response to our problem,” adds Lumsden. “I’d have no problem recommending GreaseBeta to anyone – it has definitely done the job for us.”"

"GREASEBETA LEADS TO HAPPY CAMPERS
Imagine that you, or a member of your maintenance team, had to get down on hands and knees and manually unblock the main kitchen drains because they had become clogged by a rather unpleasant mixture of fat, oil and grease. Then imagine that you had to do this every week. Apart from the rather unpleasant nature of this job, try also to imagine the cost involved, the disruption to the kitchen and the potential health hazard.
Unfortunately for David Jelfs at Mullion Holiday Park, he did not have to imagine this scenario because it was very much a reality. Or at least it was until he installed a GreaseBeta system from Cleveland Biotech. ‘There was very little that we could do about the cause of the problem’, says David. ‘The build up of such deposits is nobody’s fault they are simply a by-product of the cooking processes found in kitchens the world over, caused by the discharge from ovens, fryers, and other cooking appliances. However, they do present a problem that needs to be dealt with - ignoring them just simply isn’t an option. Because FOG (Fat, Oil, Grease) build-up is gradual it was impossible to tell exactly when the problem would reach the point where we had to interrupt the operation of the kitchen to sort it out. If it happened right in the middle of lunch or dinner, well, you can imagine the consequences! Thankfully thanks to the GreaseBeta this is now a thing of the past.’

The GreaseBeta system is designed to combat the build-up of fat, oil and grease (FOG) from food preparation and dishwashing, offering professional caterers a completely
homogeneous, fully biodegradable answer to the costly problem of blocked drains.
If left untreated, FOG will accumulate on the surfaces of drain lines, pump wells and grease separators, eventually causing blockages. With time the untreated fat starts to rot, not only producing a foul odour but also releasing sulphonic acids that can attack any metal in the immediate vicinity, causing structural weakness and eventual failure of the machinery.
At the heart of the system is Amnite L100, a liquid, biological product that rapidly degrades FOG, converting it into environmentally harmless compounds. Unlike chemical alternatives, Amnite L100 does not merely ‘move’ the problem elsewhere, it eliminates it altogether. It is odourless, does not contain any pathogens and is made from non toxic ingredients, making it safe to use in a catering environment.
The GreaseBeta liquid fat digester is dispensed via a wall mounted unit; automatic daily dosing eliminates human error and ensures the optimum level of lipase producing bacteria are maintained in the drain line. The system avoids frequent emptying of fat traps,
disruptions to the kitchen from blocked drains, lost business due to offensive smells, emergency rodding and damage from flooding resulting from blockages. Benefits include free running drains; controlled costs; and the satisfaction of using an environmentally friendly response to a pollution problem.

The GreaseBeta system has numerous advantages over other similar products on the market: it is battery operated and requires no electrical connections; supply and installation of the system is at most £400, a tenth of the cost of some alternatives; no water connection is required; it requires no daily maintenance – just ‘fit it and forget it’, Cleveland Biotech will send one of its dedicated engineers to service the unit once a quarter; and last but by no means least, you can buy the system – including installation and a year’s fluid and service - for under £1,000, a fraction of the cost of most other systems.
‘The GreaseBeta is maintenance free and has proved extremely effective in keeping the drains clear, whilst helping us to achieve our aims as an environmentally responsible organisation’, concludes Jelfs. ‘Aside from that it only costs us around £450 per year to run and that is a price I am more than happy to pay for clear, free running drains!’

"GREASEBETA HELPS ETON MAINTAIN A SWEET RELATIONSHIP WITH THE THAMES
World renowned Eton College is using Cleveland Biotech’s ground breaking GreaseBeta system to help it keep within the letter of the law in terms of discharging waste into the Thames.
The College has a private sewage treatment plant which discharges treated waste water into the river. Explains Building Services Engineer John Mahoney, ”You have to meet certain criteria to discharge into the Thames. Prior to the implementation of GreaseBeta there was too much grease getting through and we were in danger of not meeting the criteria.”
Mahoney found out about the GreaseBeta system via the internet three years ago and wasted no time in installing two units. One of the units is sited in the Thames Valley Athletic Association sports complex in nearby Pococks Lane, which was built on Eton College land with money from the Millennium Fund as a joint venture between the College, Slough Borough Council and various local athletics clubs. The school trains there and uses the catering facilities for functions from time to time.
“Grease used to get connected to the floats, which meant the pumps were pumping all the time, which they’re not designed to do,” says Mahoney. This created two major problems.
“The pumps were constantly in danger of burning out, and the water level was rising above the floats, allowing grease into the sewage treatment plant – which is designed to sort out effluent, not grease,” he explains.
At the heart of the GreaseBeta system is Amnite L100, a liquid, biological product that rapidly degrades fat, oil and grease (FOG), converting them into environmentally harmless compounds. Unlike chemical alternatives, Amnite L100 does not merely 'move' the problem elsewhere: it eliminates it altogether. The GreaseBeta liquid fat digester is dispensed via a wall mounted unit; automatic daily dosing eliminates human error and ensures the optimum level of lipase producing bacteria are maintained in the drain line. The system avoids frequent emptying of fat traps, disruptions from blocked drains, reduced goodwill due to offensive smells, emergency rodding and damage from flooding resulting from blockages. Benefits include free running drains; controlled costs; and the satisfaction of using an environmentally friendly response to a pollution problem.
“There were costs involved in carrying out more frequent maintenance on the pumps, as well as annoying breakdowns when the system would suddenly stop working - with all the attendant disruption,” says Mahoney. “Since we’ve been using the GreaseBeta system, however, I haven’t seen any grease – it really works very well. Cleveland Biotech come along and service the units regularly, and we don’t have to worry any more.”

"CLEVELAND BIOTECH’S SOLUTION TO BLOCKED DRAINS SAVES £THOUSANDS
Cleveland Biotech's ground breaking GreaseBeta system has not only saved a London club thousands of pounds in plumbers' fees but also put it in much better odour with its neighbours, which include the likes of the Savoy Hotel.
Situated close to Charing Cross station, Adam Street is a private members club with approximately 1200 members. The main entrance is at street level, but the - very small - kitchen is in the basement, tightly packed with all the usual components including a range, dishwasher, combi oven, etc.
Owner James Minter bought the premises in 1999, unaware that the elegant Victorian façade was masking a totally inelegant problem.
"The building has been in existence for a very long time and, like many others dating from a similar era, suffers from the fact that the Victorian drains were built for Victorian conditions and not the demands of the 21st century kitchen," he says. They are narrow and have a very shallow fall on them, with the result that they ‘back up’ extremely easily, causing problems at the club in two major areas.
Firstly, the drains tended to back up in the ladies toilets - nice! - and secondly at sub basement level where the drain from the club meets the mains drainage. The latter in particular did not enamour the club with its neighbours as the sub basement area is shared with a number of other businesses and provides direct access to the Savoy Hotel's underground parking lot. "You can imagine how pleased they were to have a sewer overflowing into their lovely car park full of expensive cars," remarks Minter.
As soon as a problem occurred the club had to call in the services of a plumber to clear the blockage at a cost of - depending on the time of day - £300 or £400 a go. "Bearing in mind the problem occurred every six weeks or so you get an idea not only of the inconvenience but also the cost - around £2500-£3000 per year," Minter points out.
Luckily for him, however, he has kept in touch with Ben Hoskyns, Managing Director of Cleveland Biotech, since the pair were at university together and when the subject came up recently Hoskyns was able to offer the perfect solution.
The system avoids frequent emptying of fat traps, disruptions to the kitchen from blocked drains, lost business due to offensive smells, emergency rodding and damage from flooding resulting from blockages. Benefits include free running drains; controlled costs; and the satisfaction of using an environmentally friendly response to a pollution problem.
Says Minter, "The beauty of the system is that Cleveland Biotech just come along every month, check the system, replenish the supply of liquid and go away again. We don't have to monitor the product or contact them; they just turn up and take care of it. We spend about £70 per month on the GreaseBeta system, saving us around £2000 per year - and we no longer incur the wrath of our neighbours!"
