Bulking Sludge.
Filamentous bulking is caused, among other factors, by a low food to microbe ratio (F/M), low oxygen concentration (DO), nutrient deficiency, low pH, sulfides and high organic acids, and high levels of grease and oil. Amnite K100 is a firefighting product to break up filamentous growth once it has formed. Conditions in the plant can then be adjusted to prevent its reoccurrence. When the problem is seasonal Amnite K150 should be used as a maintenance dose to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of the bulking problem particularly if seasonal loadings on the plant are likely to cause imbalances in the F/M ratio.
